#1 Step: Zoom past the Facebook Distraction Mindset Paradigm

The Facebook Distraction Mindset are you overcoming your belief people should see “ad -> buy product”.
Yet, people don’t open Facebook and say ‘what will I buy today?’
So why do people complain when they Boost a post for $5 and don’t get $5000 in sales?
#NotHowSocialSellingWork
To sell on social you must pass the Facebook distraction mindset battle.
The two faces of Facebook – people want distraction and owners want sales.
Opposing mindsets – same channel.
Facebook provides the distraction. Distraction from work, distraction from life. We all get distracted.
You and me.
We goo and see how the ‘other half’ lives.
Then dream of the stuff the ‘other half’ has.
Don’t worry, this is Urban Renström, there is always science and research involved in everything I talk about.
Facebook Distraction Mindset
We don’t open Facebook with the intent to buy stuff.
Nope!
Yet, Everyone on Facebook has the money. Bags of it. Loads of it. All this money burning a hole in their pockets!
The Facebook Distraction mindset is what you have to solve.
People ignore your ads, your status updates, your ‘special offers’.
They ignore your ads, updates and ‘special offers’ because they are noise. Noise compared to cat videos, memes, and baby pictures.
Cat videos vs your ‘special offers’ is a fight that makes your problems worse.
The Facebook distraction mindset vs. purchase mindset is the main difference between social and the Amazons, eBay, etsys et al.
So, why do Facebook page owners and Facebook advertisers expect people to act like they are on Amazon and eBay?
You want sales and people are looking for distraction!
Right? Right.
Fool us silly.
Amazon and eBay sell stuff.
You sell stuff and you have ‘million’ of Facebook fans.
So, why are your fans not buying from you like they are buying on Amazon??
Because, your fans want distraction.
Square peg round hole.
Right? Right.
Fools Errand
If you expect your fans to have an iPhone in one hand, credit card in the other, ready to buy your super special ‘special offers’.
Changing minds is not gonna happen.
How to sell on Facebook?
Because of the Facebook distraction mindset, you must grab the attention of people differently. Often it is give something of high interest with high degrees of relevancy before you contemplate asking them to buy your stuff.
Feel that? That is your mind mind shifting … shifting into a new lease on life!
And that ‘give’ must fit inside their definition of ‘distraction’.
However, give is not a new idea, oh no.
Gary V, wrote a bestseller – ‘Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook’ where the premises is give 4 times before you ask.
Right? Right. Give before you get.
The best distractions on social media are often educational, entertaining, and/or helpful.
1 out of 3 and you are ok. 2 out of 3 very good. 3 of 3 and you have winner.
Call this edutainment. Okay?
Jay Baer in his marketing book stated your marketing must be a Youtility. Ubiquitous and part of the ether of everyday life. Useful, and always there.
Right? Right. Good.
I feel your mind is shifting.
We all know the Billions of people on Facebook, the mega-Million on Instagram, the masses of Million on Messenger all have cash burning a hole in their pocket.
Right? Right …
What appears the most direct line to grab the ‘cash burning a hole in their pocket’ and your – see ad -> buy product – is, in fact, the snappiest way to lose people.
When you approach FaceGram, and SnapTube with the mindset of ‘I need to get a sale from you’ today; rather than the give, give, give mindset you will lose.
Every. Single. Time.
The easy mind to shift is yours.
The hard mind to shift is theirs.
Shift yours; Jab, Jab and Jab and ‘cash in their pocket’ will be burning a hole in yours.
