Traffic to fill up your email list, pre-sell your courses, fill your membership, put bums on seats for your workshops?

All in all, the importance of SEO for course creators, infopreneurs, coaches and online business success cannot be overstated🎺.

Yet, if you ignore SEO, don’t know where to begin and don’t regularly practice, then the all-you-can-eat traffic buffet does not serve your kind.

“All-You-Can-Eat Indian Buffet Lunch”

I love an all-you-can-eat buffet 🥗 yum, yum. My fav was an Indian buffet in silicon valley.

It was an amazing place and it was off of Central Expressway, in Santa Clara. They opened at noon and if you were a minute late the queue was out the door…the Channa Papdi Chaat was to die for…

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is how to open the key 🔐 to the all-you-can-eat traffic buffet🚥.

It’s not enough to press publish and hope Google will bless you with all the all-you-can-eat traffic. Oh no.

Right off the bat, you must put on your SEO hat🥳🎓 rally cap, and do your on-page and technical SEO to get found by Google.

Don’t worry, I am Urban Renström, there is always science and research involved in everything I talk about, teach, and demonstrate.

Let’s go back to the basics and see how important SEO is.

What are Search Engines and Search Engine Algorithms?

Search engines are websites that allow users to search for information on the internet -duh! You know that already.

Pull the thread🧵along and when people ask a question, Google looks at its database for the best answer. Search engines use their algorithms to determine the most relevant and best answer for people and places that answer on page 1 of the search engine results page (SERP).

The importance of SEO for business success cannot be overstated
Kemosabe getting ahead of himself. Not realizing the importance of SEO to page 1 ranking.

Just tell me how to get your pages on Google page 1 of the organic search result!

Not so fast kemosabe🍘!
The Google algorithm is a closely guarded secret – but smart SEO guys and gals figure it has about 200 different factors.

Google has told us to get on page 1 you must create helpful, reliable, people-first content. Helpful and reliable answers are the answers we want. Not crap you throw at the wall and hope it sticks. Oh no.

Here’s the deal:

Google puts massive importance on the author’s experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness of the website. E-E-A-T is the acronym.

What is SEO and how will SEO bring the flood of Traffic?

Search engine optimization is a long-term process of optimizing your pages (on-page SEO) to rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs) for specific keywords.

The end goal of SEO is to get your pages to
a) ranking on page 1 and
b) seen by people who are searching for information, products and services.

The only way to get to page 1 of Google is to produce content people are searching for.

The three branches📐🔱 of SEO are on-page optimization, off-page optimization and technical SEO.

Note: Google rewards websites that are organised by topic, not organised by keywords.

Why is SEO Important for Website Success?

“◀Good Food Here” Sandwich Board sign sign

“If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?” Of course, it does. If you publish a website and don’t let Google know, will it get all the traffics? No.

Let us say you open a Spicy Pad Thai🍹 restaurant on a side street in your home city or town. How will people know of your award-winning Hor Mok Ma Prow Awn if you don’t let them and Google know you are “open for business”?

Pray and hope people walk past. Or you could get people to stand with the sandwich boards “good food here”.

The same reasoning goes for your website. If no own know about your website, then you are the best-kept secret.

Here are 5 things SEO PRO don’t Tell you about the Importance of SEO for Business Success.

  1. SEO is not a one-time fix. It is an ongoing process that requires continuous effort, adaptation, and updating of your website to maintain good rankings. Never is SEO set and forget.
  2. SEO is not about keywords. Google rewards websites organized around topics. Yet, keywords are one of many on-page factors. Your SEO Process includes off-page SEO and technical SEO.
  3. Algorithm updates: The algorithms evolve monthly. Meaning the tactics which worked yesterday and today may not work tomorrow. Keeping up with algorithm updates and adjusting your SEO strategy is time-consuming and costly.
  4. SEO takes time: SEO is a long-term strategy and movement in the SERP takes months or even years to see significant results. Never is SEO a quick fix with immediate results.
  5. SEO requires resources: investment into learning, tools, and content creation.
  6. SEO is not a guarantee of success: SEO can drive a flood of traffic to your website, but it’s no guarantee – entrenched competitors, competitive niches and Zero-click results stimy results.

The Importance of SEO tools to get on Page 1 – Both are Free

Google Analytics and search console are must-use tools for technical SEO, and to understand the actions people are taking and not taking on your website.

1. Google Analytics 4 (called universal analytics, closing down July 2023) is a free tool offered by Google. GA helps answer the question “What do people do on my website?” By tracking website traffic and user behaviour. GA and Google Search Console are the 2 must-have SEO tools.
