Impact comes from action.
The biggest impacts come from the smallest actions.
And the smallest action is the 1% change.
A 1% change practiced over time produces massive impact.
Facebook gave page owners three new features recently each a chance to get a .5% impact. These Facebook page features are ‘Preferred Page Audience’; ‘Call to Action buttons’; ‘Response assistant’.
Each comes with 0.5% action. Dare we hope for massive impact? Dare we dream?
Let’s dive in and see how and why each of the Facebook Page Features give the 0.5%.
Preferred Page Audience
We have hope. Rebellions are built on hope.- Cassian Jeron Andor
Dates: Announced early 2015 and rolled out to all page in April of same year.
Yes, this feature is 18 months old, and therefore, not a new feature, per se, yet neither of the 4 pages I look at last week are using these features.
Preferred Page Audience Tell Facebook With Whom you Desire to Connect
The official words from Facebook suggest that:
…use the Preferred Page Audience “to reflect who you’d most like (your page) to connect with. Anyone can find your Page, but we’ll do our best to put it in front of the people who matter to you most.”
This is the popup explainer on a Facebook page:
The Preferred Page Audience is not the same as Audience Optimization for Posts. Former relates to the page audience, later relates to post audience.
Audience Optimization for Posts. Go to page, setting and then fifth row from the top is the audience optimization selection.
Here is the official line on the audience optimization for post.
Back to the preferred page audience.
Why set Preferred Page Audience?
For example, a tradesman/woman would set the Preferred Page Audience to let Facebook know ‘I am interest in people X miles from my office’.
Where to Find Preferred Page Audience Settings?
Access is from your Facebook page. Click on settings, then preferred page audience is about half way down the left side of the page.
Decide The Location(s) of the People ‘Who You’d Most Like To Connect With‘
Locations allow you to choose locations of the people you would like to connect. Four different options to get your page found.
Type a city or a country.
Entering a city name, e.g. ‘Dublin, Dublin +50mi’ the option is available to change the radius of the ‘dropped pin’ to increases or reduce the size of the circle. 50 miles is the maximum radius.

Call to Action Button and Insights
The page call to action turn live about 24 months ago. Buy definition the feature is not new.
What is the CTA Button
The CTA, call-to-action button is a feature of every Facebook Page. The CTA focuses the attention of people on ‘what is the next step’ they should take while visiting the page.
Where to Find the CTA Button
The CTA button is prominently displayed under the cover photo.
Change the Button.
Facebook gives us plenty of options to choose from.
Book Now, Call Now, Send Message (via messenger), Shop now, etc. Each does a specific function. When the ‘Call Now’ is selected you enter a phone number.
Facebook Page ‘Response Assistant’ and Saved Replies
What is the “Response Assistant?” It is a feature of a Facebook page letting your reply automatically to angry customers with a appropiate message the moment they message your page.
Have you seen those ‘out of office’ email automatic replies? The ‘Response Assistant’ is akin to it but better.
Facebook states the benefits of the “Response Assistant” this way:
…(it) Improve the experience and reduce the wait time with your Page’s Response Assistant features.
Note and keep in mind (before we dig deep into set up): Instant Replies are not sent when your Page’s messaging status is set to Away – or if you have hours set on your page.
Further, when ‘away’ is selected your response time is not included in calculating your Page’s response rate or response time.
Set up the Response Assistant to better cater to the people follow you and message your page.
1) To set up to the Response Assistant go to the tab called “Messages”. At the bottom see the “Set up Response Assistant“. Click on the ‘i‘.
2) Clicking the ‘i‘ open a new dialogue box…with a Messenger Code and Response Assistant. The text here is self-explanatory and descriptive.
You must set up two message. The ‘Instant Replies’ and the ‘Away Messages’. Clicking the ‘Set up Response Assistant’ button first…
Notice: left of Response Assistant is the “Messenger Code”. The messenger code is the funny looking lines, dots, lightning bolt and circle surrounding your page profile picture. Every page has a ‘messenger code’ and its individual to each page.
The use of the messenger code is when scanning with a smartphone camera you get taken directly to the page.
3)…opens the Page / Setting section. Click on Messaging…and note the General Settings, Response Assistant, and Messenger Platform.
4) Clicking on ‘Messenger Platform’ jump to section scrolls down… clicking change allows for changing of the message the response assistant replies with. The system auto fills the name of person messaging you. Obviously, I am having a bit of fun with my message….
clicking ‘Change’ open…
5)…a real looking iPhone simulation letting you see how your new message will look on a screen. You have 250 characters of space available, choose wisely then click save.
